Idealband is the ultimate vapour barrier and flashing tape combining the highest quality self-adhesive butyl rubber tape with a strong, reflective and weather resistant aluminium layer. The product is designed to provide adhesion so superior, priming is not required on the majority of surfaces. It is suitable for use on most building materials such as metal, wood, ceramics, concrete and plastic (some types of PVC). With the addition of Idealband’s excellent moisture and UV resistance properties, it is ideal for use as an internal and external vapour barrier for cold storage installations. Idealband’s durability, ease of application and adhesion allows it to be used for a multitude of other applications without special tools and skills.
USES
Idealband is ideal for use as an internal and external vapour barrier for cold storage installations. Idealband’s durability, ease of application and adhesion allows it to be used for a multitude of other applications including sealing, repairing roofing and flashings (chimneys, roof windows, skylights, fire walls, antennae, gutters, downpipes,etc), sealing and waterproofing of terraces, balconies, foundations, walls and waste water systems. It is recommended especially for repairs in hard to reach places, and in situations where an emergency seal is required for example caravans. Idealband can be over-painted with conventional decorative paints.
APPLICATION
The surface must be dry, clean and free from grease, ensure any dirt and rust is removed. Cut the Idealband to the desired length. To avoid any creasing remove approximately 50mm of backing paper and carefully position the sealing strip, hold the backing paper firmly and remove it steadily from the sealing strip as the product is applied. Smooth into position using hand pressure, use a hand roller or rounded wood smooth to ensure the Idealband has total contact with the surface and any air has been expelled. Pay particular attention to the overlaps and at the edges, removing any air bubbles whilst taking care not to damage the aluminium surface. When overlapping rolls Idealband should be overlapped by a minimum of 25mm for a watertight seal.
